Ride in Colombia with Mono 500

Are you fed up with your usual weekend rides to the Cotswolds? You know the Lake District by heart and carve every corner north of Edinborough with a pint in your hand? In that case, you should consider moving forward to new horizons. Maybe even some really far-flung horizons!

French bike travel agency Mono 500, specialized in touring Latin America, expanded its offer with a new destination. Besides Argentina and Ecuador (read the article HERE), they decided to operate in Columbia as well. But wait? Isn’t Columbia home to Pablo Escobar and cheap star dust? Yes, but any attentive Netflix viewer knows that Uncle Pablo met the Reaper long ago and tourism to Colombia is on the rise. So don’t worry, they guys from Mono 500 know their business.

Just as for the other tours, the weapon of choice for Columbia is the good, old Royal Enfield Bullet. Easy to use and rugged, these bikes will get you anywhere. Mono 500 offer a 9-day tour or one stretching over 13 days. Expect 7 hours of riding per day, half of it on tarmac, the rest on trails and tracks. The size of the group is from 3 to 8 people, passengers are welcome. If you plan to travel with buddies, you can book the trip as a private tour as well. English and French-speaking guides lead the way while a rescue vehicle driven by a mechanic follows you and keeps your bike in shape over the whole period of your trip.

Prices for the 9 day tour start at 2800€ including the fee for the bike, gas, board and lodging, transfers, entrance fees to attractions as well as a motorbike and public liability insurance. Not included are the flights to and from Colombia, alcoholic beverages as well as mandatory insurance covering medical bills and repatriation fees.

So if you’re looking for a bit of an off-the-beaten-track ride, head to Mono 500’s own WEBSITE. But hurry, the first trips are already fully booked.
